The project aim is to promote awareness of children’s rights and the situation of the children’s right in society to use these knowledge while involving youngsters. The project will be held within 24 months, focusing geographically on Ida-Virumaa. During the project, youngsters are involved to let them monitore their rights to see, how they are ensured. Youngsters involved are 14.-16.years estonian and also russian speaking. In addition, during the project, a study program will be put to together and it will be teached in partner universities to social work, government and politics, educational science and law students. Also, all the methodological materials about children’s rigtsh will be collected together in to KOHVER and it will be available to everyone on this homepage. Even more, through the project, an input will be gathered for the Alternative Report of Child’s Rights, which Estonia has to present in every five years. An alternative report will give an overview about children’s rights in Ida-Virumaa.<\/p>\n

The main aim of the project:<\/span>
\nThe project aims to promote awareness of children’s rights in society and child rights situation in coherent knowledge for children , young people and adults to act in the best interest of the child.<\/p>\n

Subgoals:<\/span><\/p>\n

\n
• To create active opportunities for children to participate, involving children from different risk groups. It is for intensifying children\u2019s knowledge of monitoring of their rights through methodology that has been already developed.\u00a0 Through that the self-esteem, courage and activity of the children to fulfill and spread their rights, will be improved.<\/li>\n
• \u00a0To systematically collect information connected to children\u2019s rights through involving children themselves.<\/li>\n
• To increase the students\u2019 knowledge of children\u2019s rights through active learning module and to support the actions of inclusive practice and approach, involving different universities.<\/li>\n
• To develop cooperation between different NGOs, who are dealing in the area of human and children\u2019s rights on the level of custody and local activities.<\/li>\n
• To achieve wider resonance of children\u2019s opinion in different levels, using the common means of the target group for active information dissemination.<\/li>\n
• To ensure the availability of systematic information about children\u2019s rights for Russian-speaking population (especially in Ida-Virumaa).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

  Through the project, children will be more conscious about their rights and thanks to increased self-esteem they are able to stand for their rights. The monitoring of children\u2019s rights, which gives a very informative overview about the problems of children and youngsters, is completed and it also gives feedback of the problems of the system (of children\u2019s rights). The report of the monitoring is a good input for the study module in universities, for the alternative report that is presented to \u00a0the Committee of Child\u2019s Rights and also for the further activities of the Estonian Union for Child Welfare.   To the target group (youngsters):<\/p>\n

  • Children (directly 48 children from Ida-Virumaa, aged 14-16) have knowledge and capability to participate in decision making processes and they are consciously involved in formation of opinion in their families, school, local level (involving the county); children\u2019s activity is expressed through their initiatives and new ideas and projects. For example local level projects, which are supported by local government and schools, that are carried out with student organizations and youth groups.<\/li>\n
  • Adults (local governments of Ida-Virumaa, school representatives, involved parents) are using the knowledge they received in practice and they are spreading the information about children\u2019s rights more widely in local level and more systematically.<\/li>\n
  • Students (social work, law, educational science, government and politics) are actively using knowledge and experiences they received in the perspective of their field and in work with children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Final beneficiary:<\/span><\/p>\n

    \n
    • Through social media, active communication work (involving Russian-speaking population) and reports, the children\u2019s right to participate is known more widely. It will improve the interests and the position of children, as vulnerable target group, more widely (and complete) in society (involving Ida- Virumaa).<\/li>\n
    • Ensure systematic information about children\u2019s right availability for Russian-speaking population will ensure more equal treatment in society and that is the basis of democracy.<\/li>\n
    • The cooperation between public and private sector (involving NGOs) in national and international level is improved. It allows more effectively evaluate the situation of children and human rights, raise the problem and questions, point out issues and help to solve them.<\/li>\n
    • Universities have a study module directed to children\u2019s rights. When it is applied, the awareness of the students about children\u2019s rights and in democratic values in general, will be increased.<\/li>\n
    • The capability and the experience in promoting children\u2019s rights will be increased. Received experiences and practice is the basis for continuing work in other counties and local governments across Estonia.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
